0004 -1 MADRID MEJORADA DEL CAMPO LA CATEDRAL CONSTRUIDA POR UN SOLO HOMBRE -JUSTO GALLEGO-/THE CATHEDRAL Built BY A MAN ONLY

Image by Jose Javier Martin Espartosa

The Cathedral of Justo is a creating of big proportions, reminiscent of a fantastic Christian Cathedral, situated in Mejorada del Campo (Madrid, Spain). It is being constructed by one man, Justo Gallego Martínez. He started to construct in on a website owned by his family members on October 12, 1961, following being expelled from the cirtesciense monastery to be ill with tuberculosis. At the time of healing, decided to thank them for God and the Virgin with the construction of this perform. Little by tiny, using household wealth offered, promoting their land and private donations it still kicking up its Cathedral.
Just take almost 50 years developing his impressive perform, and with the exception of some sporadic aid, all just produced it. What is more surprising is that this man is not architect or Mason, nor has any education connected to building. Its formation was interrupted with the outbreak of the Civil War. In addition there are no plans or official project of the Cathedral, almost everything is in your head.
It is a creating with notable architectural components. Even though its constructor known as a cathedral, and it is effectively recognized, in truth it is not a temple to be consecrated nor be recognized as such by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Alcalá de Henares.
The natives of the Mejorada del Campo know the work as ‘the Cathedral of the mad’. Given that 50 years fair is martilleando, hormigonando or raising walls from the morning until sunset. This extraordinary and special operate produced renowned the small village 20 km from Madrid. In 2005 a publicity campaign for the ‘aquarius’ drink gave universal fame to fair and its Cathedral. The Museum of contemporary art in New York devoted an exhibition of photographs to this original sacred operate.

the Catedral Catedral of fair, side view.It occupies an region of 4.740 square metres worth 1.170.000 euros. So far, the Cathedral measures 35 meters high calculated from height of the ground floor level to the height of Coronation of the dome. The two towers measuring 60 meters in length and have a width of 25 meters. Account with all the components of a classical Cathedral: crypt, cloister, steps, arches, arcades, spiral staircases, and so on. This colossal work is committed to the patron saint of Hispanic Heritage, the Virgin of the pillar, and is constructed with components donated by men and women and organizations. Most of the developing materials employed by don Justo are recycled. It makes use of both objects of daily life as supplies discarded by building businesses and a nearby brick factory. To make the columns used old petrol drums such as moulds, to the pillars usa cans of Cola Cao filled concrete and serves as a bicycle wheel pulley.
[edit] The interiorVista towards the nave of the epístolaCabe highlight its significant plant, 3 naves. The central is wider that the other people, according to the standard scheme of a cathedral. All of them are covered with barrel vaults, which at present beneath building for what could be the way of realizing them, with curved wire and concrete. To make the roofs, fair used a light, by way of gravel material at the moment used with concrete in contemporary construction to give more lightness to the buildings. Likewise, the nave has a clerestory and most likely a future forum that around the whole surface to be in a position to access the perimeter at that height. The header is organized in a big apse exactly where the altar is placed. On the outside we can see lateral apses and towers. In the central element of the Cathedral, stands the dome on pendentives. The cover was made with overlapping sheets, as well as the Middle vault of the nave. The walls are carved so that it penetrates the light, in connection with the medieval concept of relating to Christ with the light. All of them were decorated with stained glass Windows.
[edit] The courtyard InteriorHormigón, wires, irons…. arranged in a particular way to give distinct approaches. It seems all as well well carried out by a man. One particular of the most surprising things are the developing blocks. You can see all the Cathedral the bricks &quotolder&quot, those who are below, are in an irregular manner and linked with each other practically as in the game of &quottetris&quot. These bricks, defective, picked up the fair in a nearby factory that desechaba.
The cúpula Sin question is the most impressive of all more than the spot, if we bear in mind that a man has made only and with no aid. You can see very nicely from a privileged region of the previous courtyard.
There are a lot of busts that decorate the prime of the Cathedral, subsequent to the dome that a lot resemble the sculptures that have been put in the Renaissance buildings.
The Cathedral great criptaComo has a crypt accessible each by the principal interior courtyard by means of a side door. Nonetheless be curious to find some thing like this. Not in vain, we believe that the excellent fair did absolutely nothing far more and practically nothing less than three levels of developing, with all the difficulty that this entails. In the altar principal see even a can of Aquarius, extremely appropriate there.
The wing derecha Existen several a lot more pictures of the correct wing and the bottom of the primary staircase. You can see several columns that are totally handmade. With the massive cylindrical buckets of paint, just fills them with concrete to give the preferred shape and leaving them to dry out the blocks and unites them with irons and cables.
The railings and some unions are created with iron operate that appear to have been unfolded to collect landfill, with each other with concrete and surrounded by pieces of cable of electricity or any pieces of rubber.
In this part of the ground can be identified many curious landmarks. For example, a used warehouse, coated in a number of ships to double slope, as a sea of sheet metal.
If we know the biography of fair, we can guess that it may be a poultry or even a barn, in his original Property has these dependencies and their plant would pay. It is a square, massive and clear, so it could properly be location of cattle, straw or wood for the cold.
There are also other significantly significantly less built units to their side. 1 of them was the resting place of his summer time assistants, and soon after it, is a trail of stones for access to the principal gate.
